Tax Lien Certificates

Redeeming Your Tax Lien Certificates

Redeeming Your Tax Lien Certificates

This is the easy part of investing in Tax Lien Certificates. All the work is done by the County Treasurer. Once the owner of the property or lender has paid off the delinquent taxes, the Treasurer will write to you and request that you send in the Tax Lien Certificate.

After the County Treasurer receives the Tax Lien Certificate, their office will mail out your check. It really is as simple as that.

Some states may require a "quitclaim deed" in which you confirm you have no further interest in the property. This will be sent to you with the request for the Tax Lien/Deed Certificate please ensure that you fully comply with any and all request for information or signed documents before returning the Tax Lien Certificate. Failure to do so will delay your check.
